What is the Difference Between CV and Resume

The first thing an interviewer sees in you is your resume/CV. It reflects your personality and the qualifications you have acquired. As it becomes important to create the right format for it. Creating it only for the formality purpose will not be the right decision. The right format consists of details mentioned in it, the spellings and font size & type, the document name, the segmentation of every detail, and as such.

Therefore, it is crucial to know the difference between CV and Resume before sending it to the HRs.

1] Glance at the appearance:

The resume has got the freedom of choosing the design and style, moreover, it is tailored made according to the position or industry, whereas the CV has no design and it consists of section headings,

CV is mainly in chronological order that has recent jobs, awards, publications. While considering a resume, it is ‘Functional’. This resume is used often used by those who have gaps in their career, or who are changing jobs, lastly, the ones who have work experience that is not related to the job they are applying for.

A resume is Short and precise, it contains one or two pages. On the other hand, the CV is a more detailed version and has no page limit.

2] Outline:

To begin with a resume, it starts with a profile section that summarizes qualifications, followed by segments for relevant work experience, education, awards and achievements, interest, and hobbies. They can also give sections for professional certificates, participation or volunteer work, language skills, and as such.

If we explain about CV then it includes sections for education, academic employment, research experience, professional affiliations, services and leadership, awards, publications, awards, and grants.

3] Usage:

The CV is used for academic jobs, especially as an educator, teaching assistant, or researcher at a college or university, then you’ll probably need a CV. And resume is for applying other than academic jobs and it is mainly used for the private sector.

4] Objective:

A resume doesn’t mention every job you worked in, but rather it includes the recent work experience you have and which will be relevant to the position you’re applying for, whereas, a CV includes entire details about your educational and professional history.
